Emotional Rollercoaster as demonstrated on the Unofficial Blog of Arsenal FC Malaysia! |
It has certainly been a rollercoaster for all affiliated with the Gunners this past week.
The build up to the cup final was exciting and nerve wrecking. The final itself was frustrating and nailbiting. the aftermath was numbing, emotional......but for me....after about 4 hours, 23 minutes and 17 seconds, I was quite - meh.
Yes I was disappointed severely. But I found myself unusually calm and happy afterwards. Mainly because I always had a feeling this would not be the trophy we'd win.
I think there's been so much pressure on Arsenal to win one of the four main domestic trophies for years, that we got wrapped up in the Carling Cup as the one we have the best chance to win.
Looking at it another way, in my eyes, that's punching below our weight.
Maybe this team wasn't ready for the Carling Cup, maybe it's ready for better than that. Maybe we were destined for the League or Champions League with this team, what with Fabregas and Walcott not playing in the cup final but possibly being available for Barca and definitely for the title run in.
Then the news got worse about our injuries. Now it's RVP out for anything between 3 and 8 weeks. Kos has a mystery hamstring, Theo is out for about 5/6 weeks, Vermaelen will probably play next in our pre-season tour in Asia.
And finally we still have Rosicky injury free. All together bad news!
I may seem harsh on Rosicky but even though he was on the pitch, we seemed like we only had 10 men against Birmingham. I don't blame him solely for the loss. We lost as a team and from a crazy mistake.
We dominated but didn't finish them off and I have no problem with Kos and Chez, they've been brilliant for us most of the time so their mistake, be it at the worst time ever, could have happened to anyone. I've seen the likes of Terry and Ferdinand pull off howlers like that with their goalkeepers. Even the best can blunder.
Going back to Rosicky; I'm just so disappointed that he's never stepped up to the standards of his reputation. I know injuries have scuppered him but he's been injury free for a while now and Wenger must see something in him in training which keeps him mainly as a second string player instead of the marauding, influential midfield dynamo that should be starting most games.
Against L'Orient, he did turn up to a degree! Until he went off dizzy - probably from actually playing football instead of running around like a useless, headless chicken.
But he played well, setting up Chamackattack for his first goal since November woohoo!!
Nik Bendtner, Danish sex-god, pornstar, King of Cool, Fonzie's love(grand)child, and according to Nik Bendtner, the best striker in the world, looked like.......the best striker in the world on Wednesday!
Fair play to him, he gets on my mits (man-tits) at times when he looks, sloppy, lazy, and can't hit a barn - not a barn door, the whole fucking barn!
But when he turns it on; just like clicking the fingers and sticking up the thumb fonzie 'heyyy' style, he is the bogs dollocks. Well done my boy!
I must say I was particularly chuffed for Clichy - what a cracking strike for the fifth goal, and so rare that it was my pick of the bunch. Though Nik's second was a peach too. So we're through in the third most important competition - the FA Cup and we face Manure at Old Twatford. Shit!
Ultimately, we have our two back up strikers firing the ball into the goal in RVP's absence and that's what we'll need them to do against tougher opposition from now on, starting with Scumderland on Saturday and then Barca on Tuesday. Season defining games indeed.
Cesc feels he could be ready for Saturday's tussle but Wenger quashed any hopes of that by dismissing Cesc's optimistic tweets. We all know how cautious Wenger is and to be honest i'm glad.
With Jack still fit and raring to go, we should be able to get a good result against Scumderland without Cesc, Robin and Theo. Oh how we need a win following Manure's loss to the chavs and their game against Liverpool on Sunday.
We could be 1 point behind with a game in hand come Sunday afternoon! The pressure is on and despite negative injury news, I believe we are destined for a more important and meaningful trophy than the Carling Cup.
It's Fergie time again! |
Finally Fergie gets punished for gobbing off yet again about ref's etc.
It's long overdue that this dispicable man has finally been brought down a peg or two.
He's had too many let off's in the past with his consistent refusal to speak to the BBC like a big baby and his hypocritical atttitude and comments regarding the performance of referees', not only this week but many many times over the years.
This, coming from the manager of the most controversially lucky team in the history of the Premier League.
The things his teams' have gotten away with on a consistent basis have riled opposition fans beyond comprehension for years. And they wonder why Manure and their fans are hated so vociferously by opposing football fans in this country.
It's not jealousy over their success as many a manure fan would like to goad; it's the often unjustified luck they've had to help them gain their success that makes us fans despise them. The term 'Fergie time' wasn't plucked out of thin air.
April 10 1993: Manchester United 2 Sheffield Wednesday 1 - unaccounted 7 minutes of added time - Manure were losing 0-1....they scored the winner in the 96th minute. YOU LUCKY BASTARDS!
This follows Jack's justifiably negative comment about Birmingham's Ferguson slapping Kos on the head whilst running past him after 'That' mistake which led to their winning goal and subsequent celebration.
Jack merely says sarcastically:
"Well done to the BCFC player who slapped Koscielny on the head when they scored, very big of you!,"
Hardly defamation of character and I agree with JW of course.
It wasn't sportsmanlike. It deserved at least a yellow card in my book but the ref must have missed it.
Retrospective punishment perhaps? Barry Ferguson's actions do break the rules regarding raising a hand to an opposing player and if the ref didn't see it, the FA could retrospectively punish the player without being able to hide behind the ref's decision ie. Rooney/Elbowgate. Not a chance though I'm sure!
The performance of referees and off pitch controversies have taken centre stage this week;
The probably corrupt (in my opinion) FA need to take a long hard look at their own actions, or lack of action in many cases including the Shrek 'accidental' elbow!! How he got away with that I don't know.
Clattenburg should be investigated after his poor decision not to even card Rooney, if anything he was congratulating him with his huggy, pally antics. But who would investigate him?
Not the FA clearly.
Surely there should be some sort of external football watchdog to police the FA, FIFA and UEFA. They seem to be a law unto themselves.
In other news; Old Arsenal favourite Kolo Toure has been provisionally suspended from footy by the FA for failing a drugs test! He won't have known about it i'm sure.
Investigations are underway into why they found a banned substance which is claimed to have come from a dietary supplement he has been taking.
I know he's getting on a bit but surely 'weightwatchers' aint the answer Kolo!
North of the Border; I could go into the Scottish Cup melee in Glasgow but all I'll say is look for the route cause of the problem and that is simply > El Hadj Diouf > disgusting, ADHD afflicted, pathetic, over-rated BuntCucket who should have been banned from football years ago for spitting at a fellow professional.
In my book, I'd rather take a pummelling in the face than someone's gobjuice being spat at me.
I've had the odd smack in the face in my time and I've been spat at; I reacted worse to the spit, trust me. That just riles me beyond belief..........deep breath Rob, it's in the past, it's in the past...!
So we've moved on from the disappointment of last Sunday. Our emotions are in the hands of our beloved team and manager, lets get behind them with full blooded passion.
They need to hear in our voices that we have faith, we forgive them, we love them and we believe they WILL come to fruition this season.
