Arsenal scare the excrement out of their fans!

After a month away from blogging for technical reasons, I have returned with a new host and format and will continue to either interest, entertain or bore you with my rants.

I'll keep this one simple though, just to get warmed up.

As the title indicates, us Arsenalites have been through the mill recently with poor performances, scraps, losses and all round scary games.

A poor, scrappy performance against the Hammers which luckily led to a win thanks to Song's annoying insistence on bombing forward when he should be the holding midfielder - it's the same old Song but we're grateful of course.
Then there were the losses against Shaktar and Newcastle which really hit home how low the teams confidence was which in turn damaged our confidence which had been riding high only days previous to the West Ham game. How things can turn around so quickly is the baffling thing.

What the hell happened to change our form so severely. Off the back of emphatic wins in the Premiership against the likes of Man City, the league cup against Newcastle and also in Europe, what went on that made us drop our form so much? Complacency? Over-confidence? Probably both.

As many of us know November is historically a dreadful month and this November sees no change in that trend. But the win against Wolves, though scrappy and a touch lucky has hopefully seen a change in that form.  We can only hope. The Everton game will test our resolve further and if we come through that with a more convincing result then maybe November 2010 won't be so bad after all.

Talking of the Wolves game - again, many of us predicted that the good old BBC's MOTD would emit the challenges on Song and Shavva and go OTT over the Cesc challenge. We were correct. Shameful punditry as usual. But If it weren't for the fact that Wenger and Arsenal as a club had complained so much (rightly so) about challenges on our players recently, we wouldn't be made out to be such hypocrites.

I personally want our players to give as much as they get, so fair play to Cesc. I only take this stance because the FA/FIFA/UEFA are clearly doing nothing about the situation. I'll be happy to go back to the reputation we previously had with the likes of Viera, regular yellows, reds etc. if it means we'll be fighting, literally, for the title.

Good news on the goalkeeping front with Wo! Chesny. A five year deal which will keep the pressure on Fabianski who after a scarily flappy mistake against Newcastle, made up for it with a man of the match performance against Wolves. If this long run in the team keeps Almunia out and Fabianski's form more consistent then I'm all for it. Most of us have berated the Pole over time with his flappy antics but if he's really come to form and stays that way then I'll happily become a big fan of humble pie and will have it for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. (not Tea - Tea is a drink and I hate it when people call Dinner 'Tea' !!)
